The deeper meaning of the song – FIREFLY
The song “Firefly” is not simply a song that will represent my country, Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest. It is much more than that.First of all, it is the most wonderful gift I have ever taken in my entire life. It is a song written just for me by my older brother, my mentor ; a song, inspired by my character, my inner questions and deep thoughts, by my phobias, the fears of a 16 year old trying to survive and find her identity in this world. This song is the precious advice of my beloved brother, a piece of advice he has always been trying to make me understand. “Take healthy risks even if you have to be different than the rest of the world. Follow your light and don’t shrink just because you are afraid to fly”.
Now this piece of advice suddenly becomes a diamond which will shed light not simply in my heart but in the hearts of all the youngsters of Europe. The firefly symbolizes the light we all have inside our hearts. Do we all manage to find this light? Well, in order to find it, we need to have questions, and dreams. It is important to set targets and it is necessary to fight and overcome our fears and insecurities. If this inner light is discovered by us, then we can reach self-awareness. If this inner light is discovered by us, then we will manage to shine and succeed in whatever we want to do in our lives.
So, in other words the light of the firefly will help us defeat our own selfishness, fears, insecurities. It will help us move towards inner peace, self-awareness and absolute happiness. In this trip we may need to ignore the negative voices and have faith, even in moments when we will be alone and feel different than the others; even then our own light will offer us support and company and strength which will direct us towards the right path.
Everyone should set a target in his life and try to find the real happiness without thinking what others say.There is an ideal ”destination” for everybody although it’s not easy to find.
Be yourself and don’t be influenced by others…!!Be free…!!Being free sounds nice but it’s difficult..!!
our interpretation is that if you want to succeed something you can manage it.In this way you express yourself and your feelings.Try to be free and let your dreams come true.all you need is determination and being willing to try new experiences.TASTE THE UNKNOWN WORLD!!!!!!
the lyrics of the song make the listener think about the importance of being confident enough in order to express themselves and stand out…i higlhy agree with the singer and i think she is very lucky that has that support from somebody so close to her…the deep meaning that the song is trying to pass the listeners shows the maturity of a 16 year old girl…i’ve tried to follow my dreams but it is really difficult.

The interpretation of the song was amazing… :O …we definately agree with the singer and we think that it is always easy to follow the firefly that leads you to the unknown because it makes you feel more comfortable… 😛 …and carry on thinking positive…there would be a “FIREFLY” in our hearts to lead us!

Well, what I believe…
The unknown will remain unknown unless we follow the firefly living in our heart. She is quivering and trembling like a leaf in the chilly breeze of the conformity. She is awaiting for our passion,thirst and enthusiasm to achieve our dreams as to warm her up. Then she will be the beacon throughout our lives.
Don’t be afraid to fly with the firefly. You will be soared into the vast blue sky gliding into the wind of happiness.Her wings are strong enough to keep you high.
