Now on: Amazing #iTDi Community Webinar, “Error Correction”. The link to the event: http://itdi.adobeconnect.com/ec03032012/ Such an enjoyable conversation!

Motivation is more important than correcting mistakes. By@StevenHerder on #iTDi community webinar. #efl #edtech #edchat

How do you correct ‘My sister has got a long hair’? Straightaway or indirectly? Question introduced by @thornburyscott in #iTDi webinar.

There is evidence that corrective feedback helps learners. #iTDi #efl webinar

@barbsaka in #iTDI webinar: Young learners can be allowed to make more mistakes in order to be encouraged to be more creative. #efl

What about errors in exam classes, though? Since I teach such classes a lot, I have to be strict & expect Ss’ output to be accurate.#iTDi

@barbsaka in #iTDi webinar: It is easier for me to teach students to be accurate rather than have something interesting to say. #edchat

Teacher should correct without breaking the flow of the conversation. Ss self-repair without losing the track of the conversation. #iTDi

This is what experienced teachers progressively learn to do: correct Ss on the spot without distracting them. Via @thornburyscott on #iTDi

Fossilization is a myth. By @thornburyscott on #iTDi webinar.

Interesting interactions with other twitterers:

Christina: How do you correct ‘My sister has got a long hair’? Straightaway or indirectly? Question introduced by @thornburyscott in #iTDi webinar.

Morrica: @christina_mark In passing, by using the correct form in my reply@missnoor28 @thornburyscott

Chistina: @Morrica That’s the best way to handle it in my humble opinion, too, Morrica!

Morrica: @christina_mark Allows for the student to learn the correct phrase while keeping face and continuing the conversation at the same time

Christina: @Morrica Exactly! Keeping face is important, as well. All age groups may feel embarrassed after an abrupt correction.

Morrica: @christina_mark So true!

Norman: @christina_mark feedback is the key to learning….that is why video games are so effective….feedback is immediate!!!!

Christina: @nconstantine Good point! Feedback is also given in multiple ways; it is visual, auditory and kinaesthetic at times.
