After the students were presented with some new idiomatic phrases and rules about the formation of certain clauses, they were asked to write a short story of their own which would include as many of these newly taught elements as possible. Each element existing in their writing would get one point, thus the winner would be the one to use these phrases the most, even if the resulting story did not adhere to reason entirely!
We apologize for the bad handwriting, but it was a timed competition which took place in the classroom, so everyone was in a rush!
